Paramedical Courses in interdisciplinary medical subjects are gaining importance in the Health Care Systems. In the recent years, the need for qualified and well-trained paramedical personnel is increasing. They form an integral component of medical profession. Disciplines under this field include Physical therapy, Occupational therapy, Prosthetics and Orthotics, Physiotherapy, etc.
The training for these paramedical professionals extends over a 3-4 year period for diploma/degree courses. The course can be pursued after Class XII with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Maths and English. The diploma courses are of 2 year duration while the degree courses are of 4½ years.
Eligibility:
For undergraduate programme, you must have completed 12th passed with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Mathematics.
Career Prospects:
Physiotherapists work in orthopedic centers, hospitals (civil/defense), schools for the handicapped, rehabilitation centers and in private and government hospitals and clinics. Graduates of Physiotherapy may also study and work in emergency care. Occupational therapists are employed in hospitals and rehabilitation centers.
