Pay more to study MBBS at new AIIMS
The government has set the ball rolling for new medical institutes, however, the fee could be a matter of concern for a few.
The six new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will offer MBBS course on a higher fee as compared to AIIMS, Delhi, reported The Times of India.
The ministry has already finalised the fee structure for the six new centers at Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Rishikesh, Raipur and Bhubaneswar, respectively. While the annual fee in AIIMS, Delhi is Rs 970, students studying at the new AIIMS will have to pay Rs 4,228 for the same.
Rani Kumar, dean, AIIMS, Delhi, told TOI that the increase in the fees is justified as AIIMS, Delhi is offering education to students since the last 56 years without having increased a single rupee. She feels that the administration should have reviewed the fees every five years, which has not happened.
The classes at these centers will commence from August. All admission-related work has been completed at the new centers and admission forms will be available till April 2. (Read more...)
