Tamil Nadu has over 300 MBBS and BDS seats on offer for medical aspirants from outside the state. This year, NEET will replace the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) that was used to admit out-of-state students. Now, admissions will be done based on National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) results for those applying through the all-India quota.
A health department official said, "We will get the announcements from the centre in a day or two. For students from Tamil Nadu, the usual regulations will remain," reported a national daily.
Out of the 2,145 MBBS seats in Tamil Nadu government colleges, 322 are reserved for students from other states.
