ICTCR JOINS HANDS WITH IIT-BOMBAY FOR COURSES IN CLINICAL RESEARCH MANAGEMENT

MUMBAI, July 22, 2009: ICTCR, one of the leading institutes on clinical research education has joined hands with IIT, Bombay in offering an advanced course in Clinical Research Management.

ICTCR’s Advanced PG Diploma in Clinical Research Management will be offered in collaboration with the SJ Mehta School of Sciences, IIT, Mumbai where the management course will be prepared and conducted by IIT, Mumbai.

``This is the next stage of clinical research in our country, the need for professionals with a grounding in management principles,’’ said Dean and executive director, ICTCR, Dr Mary Francis. ``Students would learn business development , financial management, operational management and project management along with the basics of clinical research, ICH and GCP guidelines for clinical research industry. It’s not just career advancement, but taking the industry further’’, she added.

Offering further specialization for working Pharma, Biotech  and clinical research professionals as well as fresh graduates, ICTCR has also announced an Advanced PG Diploma in Clinical Research Management with specializations in Pharmacovigilance and Data Management.

``Both Data Management and Pharmacovigilence are the new fields in the clinical research industry where Pharmacovigilence helps in the study of the adverse effects of the drug being tested, while Data management is at the core of the clinical trials as faulty data gathering and analysis could compromise the entire trial’’, said Dr Francis.

All the three courses are open to all science graduates and post graduates, medical and paramedical professionals and also working professionals in the Pharma, Biotech and Clinical Research industries.

Admissions are also open to working professionals in the Clinical Research and Pharma industry, who wish to only obtain a management degree in the field.

The course is for a period of a year and commences from September 2009. Lectures will be held on weekends at the S J Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay.
