Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu told that the government has issued advertisements for recruitment on all posts and with the generation of merit lists, the authority would continue conducting appointments.
The government of Assam has decided to appoint at least 20,000 teachers in the state by May 10 this year. Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu told ANI, "The state government is committed to appointing 20,000 teachers in the state by May 10 this year and it is under the 'Mission 1 lakh jobs' drive of the state government."
The minister further told that the government has issued advertisements for recruitment on all posts and with the generation of merit lists, the authority would continue conducting appointments. A media report by HT suggests, job vacancies at various levels, i.e. Lower Primary, Upper Primary, Secondary and Post Graduate teachers, Assistant teachers, etc. altogether come around approximately 20,000 posts. The government has issued job advertisements for all the posts.
The initiative to recruit around 20,000 teachers is under the 'Mission 1 lakh jobs' drive of the Assam government and it will be completed by May 10 this year, Pegu informed.
The minister also informed that the government of Assam has started implementing New Education Policy laid down by the Centre in 2020.
"We have already started the implementation of new education policy in the state. The new education policy is a broad framework of a new education system under which we have already notified that our Directorate of School Education will be of two school education in elementary education and secondary education. From 2022-23 we will start delinking Class 11 and 12 from the colleges and the colleges will be purely for degree and post-graduate courses only," he said.
He further said that, for Pre-primary education, the government has constituted a committee of Social Welfare, Education, Health, Tribal Affairs department to look after the education as well as health and nutrition of students of pre-primary level.
