Interpreting the CFA Result 2025
The CFA Institute is very secretive about the CFA exam results and sends the CFA scorecard to the aspirants via email, indicating whether they passed or failed. Read below to understand the CFA result and score components better:
Minimum Passing Score (MPS): A thin grey line represents the MPS, which is the benchmark that students must surpass to pass the exam.
Bold Grey Line: This thicker grey line reflects the student's score. If this line is above the MPS, the student has passed. If it’s below the MPS, the student did not pass.
Confidence Interval: A light blue box surrounding the student's score represents a 90% confidence interval, indicating the range within which their true score likely falls. High-performing students often have this box and grey line above the MPS.
Purple Dashed Line: This line shows the 90th percentile score, meaning 10% of exam takers scored higher than this mark.
Black Dotted Line: This line indicates the 10th percentile, meaning 10% of exam takers scored below this mark.
These visual indicators help candidates understand where they stand in relation to their peers and the passing criteria.
