The students who are preparing for Assam metric, higher secondary exams 2021 can appear in three subjects only.
With the state reeling under the coronavirus pandemic, the Assam state government has decided to let students who will be appearing for the Assam HSLC, HS exams 2021 appear in three papers only. Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said, "The students who are appearing for metric or the higher secondary exams this year can appear in three subjects only."
Speaking in this regard, the minister further added that the proposal has been submitted already after discussions with the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). He told that the decision on the schedule of the exams will be taken by the Assam Health and Family Welfare Department. And within 15 days from the permission, the state government would be able to conduct the board exams.
It is to be mentioned here that the Class 10 students from the state are required to appear for six subjects and Class 12 students in all the streams- Arts, Science and Commerce, students have to appear for five subjects. However, this year the students can choose three subjects only and have to clear all of them.
"We urge all the students to be prepared for the exams as they will be conducted as soon as we get a green signal from the government," the minister added.
Earlier, the state board examinations were scheduled to begin on May 11, 2021.
A total of 4,26,508 students registered for this year's HSLC examination while 2,49,812 students are slated to appear for the HS examination 2021. Of them, a total of 1,91,860 candidates are in the Arts stream; 38, 431 in the Science stream; 18, 440 in the Commerce stream; and 1,081 candidates have been registered in the Vocational stream.
