Bengal Higher Secondary Council sets deadline for self-review of answer sheets

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education has set a time limit for candidates, who have been permitted to review their Class 12 Board exams answer sheets, and asked them to appear at the Council by February 28. Previously, students were able to get their answer sheets rechecked after due appeal but there was no room for self- inspection. In a notification dated February 20, WBCHSE president Mahua Das urged all the applicants, who have been asked to review their answer sheets, to come for self-inspection at Vidyasagar Bhavan, the location chosen by the Council. No appeal for self-inspection will be entertained after the stated date.

The Council took into consideration the fact that many candidates were complaining of getting marks below expectations. In July 2019, the Council had declared that Class 12 students, who had taken their West Bengal Board exams that year, would be able to apply for self- review of their answer sheets. The step was required to ensure transparency in the procedure and allow students to know the correct answers and how their answers were assessed. This will also dismiss doubts among the resentful students.
