CBSE Marks Bifurcation 2027: Central Board of Secondary Education has released subject-wise marks bifurcation for CBSE Class 10 and 12 board exams 2026-27. In notice PDF, CBSE shared details of the distribution of marks between theory examinations, practical examinations, project work and internal assessments for various subjects.

As per official notification, CBSE 10th, 12th marks distribution has been provided separately for board for both classes. This document also mentions duration of theory examinations, maximum marks, the requirement of external practical examiners and the availability of practical answer books. CBSE Class 10 Marks Bifurcation 2026-27

As per CBSE marks bifurcation circular, most major Class 10 subjects carry 100 marks, divided into 80 marks for theory and 20 marks for internal assessment. For subjects such as Hindi Course A, Hindi Course B, English Language and Literature, Mathematics Basic, Mathematics Standard, Science and Social Science, the theory examination will carry 80 marks, and 20 marks will be allocated to internal assessment.

The distribution for some other subjects is different. For instance, Home Science carries 70 marks for theory and 30 marks for practical examinations. Computer Applications carries 50 marks for theory and 50 marks for practical examinations. Similarly, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and other skill-based subjects have a 50:50 theory and practical marks distribution.

CBSE theory exam duration for most major Class 10 subjects is three hours. However, certain subjects, including Computer Applications and vocational subjects, have a two-hour exam duration.

CBSE Class 12 Marks Bifurcation 2026-27

For CBSE Class 12 board exams 2027, board has also specified the subject-wise theory, practical and project marks distribution. In subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science, the theory examination will carry 70 marks, while 30 marks will be allocated to practical examinations.

Also, subjects such as Mathematics, Economics, History, Political Science, Business Studies and Accountancy carry 80 marks for theory and 20 marks for project work or internal assessment. For vocational subjects, the marks distribution varies. For example, Retail, Informatics Technology and Web Application carry 60 marks for theory and 40 marks for practical examinations. Multimedia carries 50 marks each for theory and practical exams.
