Goa schools have been asked to conduct examinations for classes 9 and 11 online amid a spike in coronavirus cases.

Amid the rapidly increasing coronavirus cases across the country, the Goa Education Department has directed Schools from across the state to hold Class 9 and Class 11 Exams online. Earlier, the department had permitted schools to hold online exams for Class 1 to 8 students. Following the latest announcement, students of all classes from 1 to 9 and 11 will be able to appear for the annual school-level exams in an online format, from the safety of their homes.

Many students and parents had raised concerns about the offline exams that are being planned by the schools for Class 9 and 11 students amid the second wave of COVID. In response to this, the Education Department has permitted online exams for classes 9 and 11 students. To confirm the same, Director Of Education D R Bhagat issued a fresh circular, in which he asked the educational institutions to hold exams for Classes 9 and 11 also in the online mode.

"It is informed that the examinations for Standard ninth and eleventh should be conducted by allowing students to answer from their residences, in the same way, the students up to standard eight have been allowed,” read the circular.

Meanwhile, the Goa SSC examinations 2021 will be conducted from May 13 to June 4, 2021, while the Goa Class 12 examinations have been delayed and will now be held from April 26 to May 15, 2021. 

As on April 11, Goa has recorded as many as 525 new cases with present Confirmed Cases of 62,304 while the Active Cases stand at 4,322.
