The Council of Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) will hold the upcoming 1st term exams of ICSE 10th and ISC 12th 2022 in hybrid mode. Under this new format, students will be given a choice to appear for the CISCE Board Exams in either online or offline format. The official announcement for the conduct of the 1st term exams is yet to be made by the Council.
Offline vs online exam
“CISCE Board officials have considered the views of all stakeholders before taking the final decision about the mode in which the ICSE Term 1 Exams 2022 are to be held,” informed Gerry Arathoon, the Chief Executive and Secretary of the Council. “For 1st Semester exams of ICSE and ISC Board, students may be allowed to appear for the exam at the school with consent from parents, or students will be allowed to appear for the same from home as well,” he added.
Loss of marks for turning off camera
According to media reports, for the conduct of online exams, schools have been asked to make arrangements of the proctors, buffer proctors and also support IT executives. The report also says that every school has been asked to appoint at least one IT support executive to a maximum of three IT support executives as part of the exam preparatory process. Furthermore, it should also specify the type of devices that students will use to give the exam such as laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone. Moreover, the devices being allowed to appear for in the 1st Semester Exam must contain a camera as per the direction given by the Board. For online exams, students will be penalized if they turn off their cameras for any reason. The report says that for every five minutes of no video streaming, students will lose five marks.
Students should note that this information is based on media reports and a formal announcement confirming adopting of hybrid mode for CISCE Board Exam 2022 is yet to be announced by the board.
