School, colleges closed in Tinsukia, Assam, amid severe thunderstorms

The authority has made the announcement in light of the severe thunderstorm and hailstorm that occurred in the district on April 22 and 23, 2023. An official notice is also released by the district administration informing about the closure of schools and colleges. The notice was issued by the deputy commissioner cum chairman of DDMA.

Schools, colleges shut in Assam's Tinsukia district

Assam Schools Colleges Closed: Schools and colleges of the Tinsukia district of Assam will remain closed today. According to an official announcement made by the district disaster management authority (DDMA) of Tinsukia district of Assam, schools and colleges of the district shall remain closed tomorrow on April 24, 2023.

The authority has made the announcement in light of the severe thunderstorm and hailstorm that occurred in the district on April 22 and 23, 2023. An official notice is also released by the district administration informing about the closure of schools and colleges. The notice was issued by the deputy commissioner cum chairman of DDMA.

The announcement came a day after a massive storm hit Tinsukia, disrupting the lives of the people there. Frequent power cut-offs were also witnessed in the area. As many as two persons lost their lives in the storm within two days in the district.

According to official information, it was learnt that INR 4 lakh ex-gratia has been provided to the family of the ones who fell prey to the thunderstorm. The district administration of Tinsukia also issued two helpline numbers: 9394585622 and 9365118503 for the people stuck in the thunderstorm. People in need of any assistance due to the extreme weather conditions can contact the above-mentioned helpline numbers.
