Schools in Tamil Nadu have asked the board to postpone the TN 12th exams 2021 due to rise in COVID19 situation in the state. The examinations are scheduled to begin on May 3.

Tamil Nadu schools have asked the state government to defer the TN 12th examinations 2021 given the increase in the number of COVID19 cases in the state. The TN 12th exams 2021 are set to begin from May 3 and go on until May 21.

The students, parents, and teachers have their doubts regarding the conduct of district-level common revision test scheduled to begin from April 8 and practical exams to be held between April 16 and 23.

With COVID cases rising on a daily basis, it is expected that the number would be at its peak in around four weeksโ€™ time when the board exams are scheduled to begin. According to media reports, B Purushothaman, senior principal of Everwin Group of Schools said that it is not advisable to conduct the exams as per the current schedule. He told that the examinations can be deferred at present and conducted later in June.

According to N Vijayan, senior principal of Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School. Tambaram, โ€œThe second wave of COVID is affecting even the teenagers. Parents and children are expecting the board exams to be postponed till the COVID19 cases subside.โ€

This way students will get time to prepare for NEET too which is scheduled on August 1.

Some also stated that postponing the TN 12th board exams 2021 will affect the preparation of Class 12 students. One of the principals mooted the idea of vaccinating the Class 12 students before conducting the exams.

However, according to school education department officials, โ€œThere has been no discussion about the postponement of the examinations. As of now, the revision test and the practical exams will be conducted as scheduled.โ€
