The Telangana state government had earlier announced that all first-year intermediate students would be promoted without examinations but planned to conduct exams later.
The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) announced the cancellation of Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) for the 2nd-year students. This decision has been taken due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. The intermediate exams were earlier postponed.
“Considering the present pandemic situation prevailing in the State, Government hereby decides to cancel Class 12 Intermediate public examination for the academic year 2020-21. Results to be declared on basis of pre-determined objective criteria. Secretary, Board of Intermediate Examination is directed to issue orders for promoting all Class 11 students to Class 12,” the government of Telangana said in its latest official order.
The state government had previously announced that all first-year intermediate students would be promoted without examinations but had said that examinations would be conducted whenever the situation is conducive. Now, Class 11 students will be promoted without exams.
This decision comes after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the cancellation of Class 12 examinations due to the pandemic. This was followed by CISCE, NIOS and state boards announcing the cancellation of Class 12 examinations.
The state had also announced the cancellation of TS SSC examinations and TS SSC result 2021 was announced on May 21. All SSC students have been promoted to the next class. The marks have been awarded after duly considering the performance in internal assessments for 20 per cent (one formative assessment was conducted instead of two formative assessments due to Covid19). The department scaled 20 per cent of internal assessment marks to 100 per cent. Students have been awarded grades instead of marks. They can obtain their school memos or mark sheets from principals of their respective schools, once the result is out. However, if students are not satisfied with their result, they will be allowed to take the examinations at a later date.
