UP Board Results 2020: More than 7.5 lakh students fail in Hindi

Nearly 7.95 lakh students have failed in UP Class 10 (High School) and UP Class 12th (Intermediate) Board Exam this year. 

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) had announced the UP Board Result 2020 for Class 10 (High School) and Class 12th (Intermediate) Board Exam on June 27, 2020. As per the statistics, more than 7.95 lakh students have failed to clear the Hindi exam. 

Around 2.70 lakh students failed to secure passing marks in Hindi in Intermediate or UP Board 12th, while 5.28 lakh students in High School or UP Board 10th  failed in their Hindi paper, the Board officials said.

The UP Board High School Result 2020 and UP Board Intermediate Result 2020 was announced much later then the expected date due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country. Around 2.39 lakh students of both UP 10th Board and Up 12th Board had skipped their Hindi papers, as per the officials. 

A high school teacher who evaluated Hindi copies for class 12, told a media house that, "Many of the children did not know simple words like 'atmavishwas' and wrote 'confidence', albeit with a wrong spelling. Some of them wrote 'suffer' for 'yatra'. This reflects their level of the knowledge of the language."

She further said that majority of the students tend to ignore Hindi because they feel there is no need to study the language which does not offer future prospects.

However, the number of students who have failed in Hindi paper is better than the last year. In 2019, around 10 lakh students failed to clear the Hindi paper. 

Around 56 lakh students had appeared in the Board examinations of the UP Board Exam 2020.

From this year, the Board has given the option to students to appear for UP Board Compartment Exam 2020. The Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education will be conducting the compartment exam for the first time this year for around 35,017 Class 12th students.
