West Bengal Board of Secondary Examination (WBBSE) and the West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Exam (WBCHSE) have proposed conducting the WB Madhyamik, HS Exams 2022 in offline mode. The WB Madhyamik exams 2022 are likely to be held in March while HS exams will be conducted in April 2022. Unlike CBSE, CISCE, WB board has proposed a one-time exam.

According to a board official, β€œThe All-India Boards have propsed for exams in two semesters, but as the student concentration is high here, it is impossible to conduct exams in two semesters. Schools need to be organized while maintaining Covid protocols strictly, we have sent a draft proposal detailing all these points to CM Mamta Banerjee and are awaiting her consent.”

The state had announced the reopening of schools for Classes 9 to 12 from November 16.

Last year, the Board had to cancel the WB 10th, 12th board exams 2021 due to rise in the pandemic situation. It had released an evaluation criteria to assess students on the basis of their internal assessments and calculate the results. According to the criteria, WBBSE gave 50 per cent weightage each to the marks obtained by the students in Class 9 and the internal formative assessment in Class 10. WBCHSE decided to segregate the theoretical marks into two parts giving 40 per cent weightage to the marks obtained in Madhyamik examination and 60 per cent weightage to the subject marks in Class 11.

This year, however, the Boards are trying not to take any risk and conduct proper examinations.
