The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Kolkata and several districts of West Bengal, predicting thundersqualls with gusty winds and hailstorms on March 22. This forecast follows the development of a weather system over the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to parts of the state.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Kolkata, thundersqualls with gusty winds (50-60 kmph), lightning, and hail are likely to affect Jhargram, Bankura, West Midnapore, East Midnapore, and Hooghly districts on March 20.
Will Schools Be Closed in Kolkata?

However, the Associated Managements of Private Unaided Schools in Karnataka has confirmed that exams for lower classes will proceed as scheduled and will not be postponed or canceled to avoid disrupting students’ academic calendars.
Parents and students in both West Bengal and Karnataka are advised to stay updated with official announcements from their respective schools and education departments regarding any possible closures or schedule changes.
