With the weather warning in place, students and parents are wondering if schools in Kolkata will be closed on March 22. Last year, schools were closed from October 23 to October 25 due to Cyclone Dana, as the government took precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff.

Kolkata Schools Closed! The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Kolkata and several districts of West Bengal, predicting thundersqualls with gusty winds and hailstorms on March 22. This forecast follows the development of a weather system over the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to parts of the state.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Kolkata, thundersqualls with gusty winds (50-60 kmph), lightning, and hail are likely to affect Jhargram, Bankura, West Midnapore, East Midnapore, and Hooghly districts on March 20.

Will Schools Be Closed in Kolkata?

With the weather warning in place, students and parents are wondering if schools in Kolkata will be closed on March 22. Last year, schools were closed from October 23 to October 25 due to Cyclone Dana, as the government took precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff.

However, as of now, no official announcement has been made regarding school closures. Students and parents are advised to stay in touch with school authorities for updates. Some schools may choose to conduct online classes in case of severe weather conditions.

Karnataka School Holiday on March 22?

Meanwhile, in Karnataka, some students are also wondering whether schools will be closed on March 22 due to a protest called by pro-Kannada groups against the Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill.

However, the Associated Managements of Private Unaided Schools in Karnataka has confirmed that exams for lower classes will proceed as scheduled and will not be postponed or canceled to avoid disrupting students’ academic calendars.

Parents and students in both West Bengal and Karnataka are advised to stay updated with official announcements from their respective schools and education departments regarding any possible closures or schedule changes.
