IIM Amritsar organizes short-term MDP on business communication for HPCL

MDP conducted by IIM Amritsar was customized for 45 senior officers of HPCL between September 8 and September 21. 

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar organized a short-term Business Communication Management Development Program (MDP) under the title, ‘Communicating with Happiness’. The programme was customized for 45 senior officers of HPCL between September 8 and September 21. According to the official press note, the MDP laid emphasis on imbibing techniques of effective spoken and written communication to enhance their communication awareness and skills. The programme also aimed at making the officers learn how to balance empathic and assertive communication to make them more inspiring and persuasive communicators. Objectives behind the conduct of the programme included “learning professional communication competencies to influence and persuade internal and external stakeholders and practicing communication techniques and strategies aimed at diverse communication scenarios,” the press note said.

The MDP was inaugurated by Subodh Batra, Executive Director (I/C)- The Supplies, Operations & Distribution (SOD) SBU of HPCL. In his inaugural address, Shri Batra shared his experience of attending similar programs. He further talked about the benefits of the programme and how happy employees deliver happiness to all their stakeholders. The participants were also addressed by Professor Vartika Dutta, Chair, Executive Education. The professor presented an overview of executive education programs conducted by IIM Amritsar in the recent past. The other dignitaries from IIM Amritsar included Professor Mahima Gupta, MBA Chairperson and Professor Ranjan Kumar and Professor Mukesh Kumar, Program Directors of the MDP.

Amid the ongoing pandemic situation, the B-school conducted the program virtually via Zoom and was facilitated by distinguished professors of IIM Amritsar from Marketing & Communications and OB & HR areas.
