IIM Calcutta asks students to update COVID-19 vaccination status
The outcome of the survey will be shared with the institute in a week’s time, after which the committee will meet to take a decision on the recall of students.
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has started conducting a survey on the status of vaccination of the students of the two-year MBA programme. The decision to conduct a survey has been taken to decide whether more students could be called back to the campus. The students’ council has been asked by the institute to start collecting the data. Earlier, vaccination was not the condition cited by the institute while letting all the 80 one-year MBA executive programme students and 25 per cent of the students of the two-year programme enter hostels and attend online classes. However, now when more students are willing to return, the institute is advising all to get vaccinated in order to prevent COVID-19 spread. The survey has been aimed at encouraging students to take both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Reports suggest that Manish Thakur, dean (new initiatives and external relations) and a member of the COVID committee of the IIM-C, informed that the general understanding and awareness suggest that vaccination is seen as an antidote to the novel coronavirus and the institute is conducting the survey with the same idea in mind.
The outcome of the survey will be shared with the institute in a week’s time, after which the committee will meet to take a decision on the recall of students. He further added, “There are teaching and non-teaching employees staying in the quarters on the campus. So if the students who are coming back take both the doses, then the campus residents would feel safe.”
