Breaking all the previous records, the average stipend of the institute stood at Rs 1,25,500 while the top quartile was Rs 98,482. The average for the entire batch was Rs 51,726.

The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIM-V) concluded with its summer placement season for the fifth batch (PGP class of 2019-20) on Saturday. The institute saw top companies offering summer internships to all the participating students. All the 121 students in the batch received the summer internship offers with the highest stipend clocked at Rs 2 lakh.

Breaking all the previous records, the average stipend of the institute stood at Rs 1,25,500 while the top quartile was Rs 98,482. The average for the entire batch was Rs 51,726.

Professor M Chandrasekhar, director of the IIM-V said, “Crossing milestones ahead of the competition is a way of the institute’s life. Completing summer placements successfully in January is an exemplification of this fact.” He further said that it is a “reflection of our strengths that find an echo in the superior system our students bring to the table.”

The IIM-V summer placement offerings were spread into various sectors including- Banking, financial services and insurance (28%), IT/ITES (25%),  consulting (9%), conglomerate (5%), e-commerce (6%), fintech (3%), logistics (1%), telecom (5%), technology (3%), hospitality (3%), oil and gas (3%), manufacturing (6%), transportation (1%), education (1%), automobile (1%).

Dominant roles offered in the internship include Sales & Marketing (50%), Strategy and advisory (10%), Finance (15%), General Management (4%), Product Management (9%), Analytics (4%), Operations (3%), Project Management (3%) and Human Resources (2%).

Multinational conglomerate Bosch, L&T and Adani Group offered roles in general management, sales, marketing, HR and product management.

The companies which rolled out offers to the students include- OPPO Mobiles, HDFC Bank, ICICI Lombard, Yes Bank, Aditya Birla Capital, Bajaj Capital, SIDBI, Big Basket, Fujitsu, V-Guard, Basix and Decathalon, among others.
