Gauhati University to start classes for UG courses from November 1; Check details here

Gauhati University will begin its academic session for the UG courses from November 1, 2020. 

Gauhati University has announced that it will begin its academic session for the Undergraduate courses from November 1, 2020. This means that the classes for all the undergraduate courses students will commence on November 1 after a long gap due to coronavirus induced lockdown. The institute notified its students on October 8, 2020, about the odd semester classes commencing from November 1.

GU Undergraduate programme will commence in the first week of November as per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission. The varsity will be completing the admission process by October end to various courses offered by the varsity. The PG third semester classes would also commence on the same date but the rest of the classes would begin on November 18, 2020.

The education minister of the state Himanta Biswa Sarma had informed earlier that the state government would be bringing out the guidelines and the protocol to reopen the educational institutions of the state between October 15 to 20, 2020.

As per the GU schedule, the classes for the even semester will begin from April 5, 2021. The exam for the odd semesters will start from Mach 8 and would continue till March 26, 2021. The even semester break has been shortened by the varsity and will last just for a week that is from March 27 to April 4, 2021.

There has been no mention as yet on the hostel reopening dates. As per the officials, the varsity may refrain from reopening them due to the high threat of spreading of the virus.
