Guru Nanak Dev University begins semester exams online amid COVID surge
This is the third time, that the varsity is conducting exams online in over 100 affiliated colleges, due to the ongoing COVID pandemic. Students will be allowed to appear for the exams from home and send the answer sheets by email to their respective departments and colleges.
Guru Nanak Dev University has begun the examinations for the first, third, fifth, seventh and ninth semesters of various courses in online mode. More than two lakh undergraduate and postgraduate students will be appearing for the odd semester exams. This is the third time, that the varsity is conducting exams online in over 100 affiliated colleges, due to ongoing COVID pandemic. Students will be allowed to appear for the exams from home and send the answer sheets by email to their respective departments and colleges.
GNDU began the undergraduate and postgraduate exams from January 27 onwards. The varsity will complete all the exams by February 16, as the state will go for Assembly elections on February 20. Due to the shortage of time for completion of the exams, the colleges are holding three papers per day and have been completed till the second week of February.
DAV college conducted examinations of BA first semester, BA third semester and MA economics first semester through online mode. Students shared their PDF through the email, that has already been generated by the individual students through a common portal in every college.
To make the process transparent and easier for students, every college has uploaded a demo video for scanning, creating and uploading a single pdf of the whole answer sheet to the portal on college web portals.
“Since the process of online exams can be vulnerable to technical glitches and errors, we have also constituted a team of teachers to serve as a back up in case of need,” shared Dr Rajesh Kumar, principal, DAV College, told Tribune.
