Osmania University has launched the Human Capital Development Centre (HCDC). The center was launched by IT and Industries Principal Secretary, Jayesh Ranjan. Launching the HCDC at Osmania University, he said, more and more graduates were opting to become entrepreneurs and it was imperative for higher education institutions to provide the right inputs at the right time.
He further said the idea of a finishing school was a brilliant one to help students identify their potential and groom them accordingly. “India has a unique opportunity to benefit from its young people, who constitute two-thirds of the population. Higher education institutions play an important role in realising the demographic dividend,” he said.
The HCDC at OU was launched with an aim to enhance the employability and higher education prospects of students in the context of global competition.
“Employability has become the key outcome expected of higher education institutions and this is an effort to universalize placement training to meet the needs of the fourth industrial revolution,” said Prof. K Stevenson, Director, HCDC. Telangana State Council of Higher Education Chairman, Prof. R Limbadri and Vice-Chairman Prof. V Venkata Ramana also attended the event and described the idea as a unique one. OU Vice-Chancellor, Prof D Ravinder said the Centre was the first item of the 21-point agenda to take shape and said many more reforms were in the pipeline.
The Centre has four coordinators — Prof. V Uma Maheshwar, Prof. A Patrick, Prof. KW Christopher and Prof. P Muralidhar Reddy.
