Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has started the re-registration process for the January 2026 session. The university has started the applications on the portal on December 1, 2025. This is for all eligible students who are already studying in IGNOU and want to continue their course in the next semester or next year.

Students can complete the registration process through the official website, ignou.ac.in, within the last date. The last date for the re-registration form is January 15, 2026. You should complete as early as possible, to avoid issues such as the website being slow due to heavy traffic.

All students enrolled in Open and Distance Learning and Online programmes. International students who are enrolled in any programme can also apply. The Direct link for re-registration is ignou.samarth.edu.in.  The university will charge a fee from students to update their details, choose courses.

Q:   What is the admission cycle of IGNOU?

IGNOU admission cycle opens twice in a year i.e. January and July. The registrations for January session usually begins in December and close by March. The July session for ODL/ Online programmes begin in May and continue till July. The mode of application is online for all the courses.

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for MBA at IGNOU?
A: 

For the IGNOU MBA course, the minimum aggregate is 50% (45% for reserved category candidates). Candidates must hold the pass certificates (original/ copies) at the time of admission. These documents are required for verification purposes. The open university verifies that the applicants meet the eligibility requirements before offering seats.

Q:   I've scored less than 50% in 12th boards, can I get admission in IGNOU for BSc?
A: 

Yes, students get IGNOU BSc asmission with 50% marks in Class 12 boards. It is mandatory to qualify class 12 in Science strea, with Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The institute accepts application through online mode. 

If you do not re-register, you cannot continue your studies in the next semester/year. The Re-registration is mandatory for all existing students. Students must update their details and courses during re-registration. You can pay the required fee through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, and UPI.
If payment fails for any reason, wait before trying again. If you pay twice by mistake, one amount will be refunded automatically. After submission, Students can download and keep the confirmation page and payment receipt safely.
All students should submit their registration early and should not wait to apply on the last day. International students can follow the same steps, but they need to use local payment methods such as VISA, Mastercard.
