IISER Pune, MSFDA collaborates to train 5,500 college teachers in state
IISER Pune and MSFDA signed an MoU to train college and university-level teachers in Maharashtra.
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) has announced that it has collaborated with Maharashtra State Faculty Development Academy (MSFDA), and will develop online and offline workshops focusing on incorporating inquiry-based teaching skills and research-based pedagogies, among others, in science and mathematics teaching. IISER Pune and MSFDA signed an MoU in this regard.
Earlier the school teachers were trained and now Pune has rolled out another training programme for college and university-level teachers in Maharashtra.
The joint venture aims to train 5,500 teachers in Maharashtra who will be covered in multiple phases. The aim is to streamline higher education with a multidisciplinary approach covering curriculum, innovation, inclusion and reasoning.
“In collaboration with all universities and Institutes of Eminence, MSFDA will help streamline higher education,” said Nipun Vinayak, Executive Director, MSFDA.
IISER Pune has been working for several years now to train teachers and hone their teaching skills across India. Earlier this year, the institute finalized setting up the Department of Science Education, wherein tutors will research on improving teaching at schools. Once functional, this will be the first dedicated department among the seven IISERs.
College, Universities in Pune resumed the offline classes for students from October 11. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had earlier said that the state government has decided to give approval for reopening of higher education institutions from October 11 in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and even in rural areas. The decision to reopen the colleges, Universities were taken during a weekly review meeting, during which the government officials assessed the prevailing COVID-19 situation and the preparedness to allow offline classes.
