The National Commission for Schedule Castes (NCSC) has scheduled a hearing with the IIT Bombay authorities looking into the case of Darshan Solanki's death. The Commission in a letter to the institution stated that caste discrimination has been established through the data on reservations and student surveys and testimonies in the IIT Bombay students' death. The Commission has asked the institute authorities to appear for the hearing along with the up-to-date action taken report and all relevant documents including the relevant files, case diaries etc; to facilitate the hearing.

The National Commission for Schedule Castes (NCSC) has announced that it has taken cognisance of the institutional murder of an IIT Bombay student Darshan Solanki and has scheduled a hearing in the case tomorrow; i.e. June 1, 2023. The Commission announced that caste discrimination has been established through the data on reservations and student surveys and testimonies in the IIT Bombay students' death. The Commission has asked the institute authorities to appear for the hearing along with the up-to-date action taken report and all relevant documents including the relevant files, case diaries etc; to facilitate the hearing. The Commission has asked the Investigation Officer (IO) to attend the hearing.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Mumbai police has filed a chargesheet against a fellow student. The chargesheet has been filed against Arman Khatrin in a special court under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Khatri has allegedly threatened the deceased over a religious comment. He was earlier arrested for allegedly abetting suicide and is currently out on bail.

Solanki was pursuing BTech (Chemical) from IIT Bombay. On February 12, 2023, he allegedly jumped to death from the seventh floor of his hostel building on the IIT Bombay campus.The chargesheet mentioned that statements of as many as 55 witnesses were recorded including professors and students. The chargesheet mentioned that the witnesses have also recalled Solanki shivering as Arman threatened him and others trying to comfort him.
