IIT Delhi reports ₹432 crore research funding in FY 2025; 1,478 job offers made in placements; major push in quantum, AI, and startups. Prominent recruiters included Google, Microsoft, Oracle, BCG, Qualcomm, American Express, BPCL, IOCL, and Samsung.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has reported robust growth in research and development activities, with a total of ₹432 crore mobilised through sponsored research, consultancies, and industry collaborations during FY 2024–25.

In placements 2024–25, IIT Delhi saw 1,478 job offers made to 1,357 unique candidates by 622 recruiting organisations. In the internship cycle, 902 offers were made to 821 students by 326 companies. Prominent recruiters included Google, Microsoft, Oracle, BCG, Qualcomm, American Express, BPCL, IOCL, and Samsung.

According to Director Prof. Rangan Banerjee, the Institute undertook 650 research and consultancy projects worth ₹352 crore through its Industrial R&D Unit (IRD), and an additional ₹80 crore through the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT).

Key initiatives include the Technology Hub (T-Hub) on Quantum Materials and Devices (QMD), established with ₹312 crore from the Government of India. The Hub focuses on developing critical quantum technologies, including single-photon emitters, avalanche detectors, and quantum circuits.

Q:   What was the highest package offered during IIT Delhi placements?
A: 

As of now, IIT Delhi has released the placement data 2026 that is updated till Dec 2025. As per the report, a total of 1,275 offers including PPOs have been. More than 1,140 students have been placed during IIT Delhi placements 2026. The highest package 2026 has not been released yet.

Above 300 PPOs have been already made this year, which is 33% higher as compared with 2025. 35 international offers were made in 2026. Top recruiters such as Amazon, Accenture, Google, Goldman Sachs and American Express visited the campus.

Q:   How are IIT Delhi M.Tech Placements?
A: 

A total of 1,200 offers were made and 1,150 students were placed during the Phase 1 of IIT Delhi placements 2025. Further, more than 50 international offers were made during IIT Delhi Phase 1 placements 2024-25.

As per NIRF report 2025, the median package offered during MTech placements 2024 stood at INR 15.59 LPA.

The Director informed that further strengthening interdisciplinary research, IIT Delhi’s MFIRP scheme now supports 256 joint faculty projects—112 with Indian institutions and 144 with global partners such as UCL (UK), TU Delft (Netherlands), Sorbonne University (France), and AIIMS (India). Outcomes include 132 research publications, 20 patents, and joint supervision of 26 students.

FITT’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem continues to thrive with 450 startups incubated so far, including 34 added between August 2024 and June 2025. IIT Delhi-enabled startups have raised over ₹175 crore in early-stage funding and ₹800 crore in follow-on investments. The institute filed 133 patents and executed 25 licensing deals in the past year, with major partnerships including Microsoft and the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

A 250 AI PetaFlops Supercomputing facility is being built at IIT Delhi’s Sonipat campus with ₹135 crore in funding, targeted for completion by October 2025. The facility will support large-scale AI model development across domains like healthcare, energy, and materials science.

IIT Delhi has also launched the UpGRAD scheme with ₹6 crore to enhance UG lab infrastructure and the INTENT initiative to intensify industry-academia collaboration, with five workshops held so far involving 125+ companies. The institute is enhancing its global footprint, with MoUs signed with 23 international universities, 33 student exchanges, and 220 international academic visitors over the past year. "IIT Delhi - Abu Dhabi, the institute’s new international campus, now offers five degree programmes and is set to expand," said Prof Banerjee.
