IIT Kanpur: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur will establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) on Green Hydrogen under Uttar Pradesh Green Hydrogen Policy 2024. The proposal, titled Centre of Excellence on Innovative and Integrated Ecosystem for Green Hydrogen has been approved by authorised committee constituted by Government of Uttar Pradesh and sanctioned by Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency.
Centre of Excellence aims to promote cutting-edge research and innovation across entire green hydrogen value chain, supporting Uttar Pradesh's vision of achieving net-zero pollution through green hydrogen technologies. It will undertake interdisciplinary and collaborative research to develop a complete green hydrogen ecosystem, covering every stage from production and storage to distribution and utilisation. This initiative is expected to strengthen research and innovation in green hydrogen technologies.
Centre will primarily focus on advancing research in hydrogen energy generation, storage, utilisation and system integration. It also aims to reduce cost of green hydrogen production, making technology more accessible and commercially viable for large-scale adoption. Centre of Excellence will be led by Dr. Prabodh Bajpai, Professor in Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering at IIT Kanpur.
