A 22-year-old software engineer, Yaseen Ammar, has written an encrypted book in morse code, 'The Salted'. Ammar is an alumnus of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and is the founder of Startup Sopay, a fintech company which aims to link Crypto with UPI incubated in JMI E-Cell.
Ammar has raised INR 3 crore (USD 360,000) by convincing his friends, clients to invest in his books. He went of to print 300 books and stopped. However, he later received an offer from an angel investor who was introduced to Ammar's book through a print house owner.
After this, The Salter is now accommodated in libraries of universities such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Oxford University, Cornell University, University of Alexandria, JMI, and IIT Delhi. Ammar composed 'The Salted' in 2020 during the pandemic, "it's not just a book, it's art" says Yaseen. In the future, he wants to leverage the ability of blockchain in the community of readers and writers. To do this, Ammar has been developing a platform to merge a meta library, publishing house and a digital archive. This development will help the writers and readers to monetise their creative work easily and not worry about theft of plagiarism as nothing can be destroyed or tampered with in the metaverse.
