JMI welcomes USA delegation for collaborative efforts for climate action goals

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), vice-chancellor, Najma Akhtar welcomed a delegation of 14 professors from different minority, community colleges of USA. The delegation included deans, specialists in geosciences, history, sociology, anthropology, international studies, social work, environmental education, religious studies, sustainability studies and natural sciences.
The delegation interacted with heads and faculty of department of AJK mass communication research centre (AJKMCRC) and residential coaching academy (RCA) at JMI to understand the courses offered at the university. JMI, vice-chancellor called for joint collaborative efforts between the universities towards climate action goals to address the environmental issues of the day.

The JMI VC further elaborated on varsity's current status and scope of agreements between Jamia Millia Islamia and other foreign universities. She spoke about Jamia emerging as a transformative institution for climate action goals with regard to Urban Sustainability and Resilience besides underlining its abiding commitment to community oriented services in respect of minorities, women and socially disadvantaged sections of the society. Several other institutions across India have been sensitising students and faculty about climate change and conducting training programmes to mitigate climate change.
