Jamia Millia Islamia Approves One-Year PG Programmes in 13 Disciplines Through ODL, Online Mode

Jamia Millia Islamia has approved one-year postgraduate programmes in 13 disciplines through Open and Distance Learning and Online Learning modes from Centre for Distance and Online Education.

Jamia Millia Islamia One-Year PG Programmes

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has approved launch of one-year postgraduate (PG) programmes in 13 disciplines through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Learning (OL) modes. The programmes have been approved in accordance with provisions of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and applicable regulations and amendments issued by University Grants Commission (UGC).

The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Jamia Millia Islamia, will offer these programmes. The university has directed concerned deans, directors, heads of departments and other officials to follow approved directions. Director of CDOE has also been asked to take necessary action for implementing programmes.

JMI One-Year MA Programmes

As per university order, JMI has approved one-year Master of Arts (MA) programmes in these disciplines

• Education

• English

• Geography

• Hindi

• History

• Human Resource Management

• Islamic Studies

• Political Science

• Public Administration

• Sociology

• Urdu

These programmes will be offered through ODL and/or Online Learning mode, depending on programme and applicable provisions.

JMI One-Year MBA and MCom Also Approved

Apart from MA programmes, JMI has also approved a one-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme. The university has also approved a one-year Master of Commerce (MCom) in Business Management. Both programmes will be offered through Centre for Distance and Online Education under the approved ODL and/or online framework.

The introduction of one-year PG programmes is in line with changing higher education framework under NEP 2020. Candidates looking for flexible higher education options through distance or online learning will be able to pursue these programmes subject to the eligibility and admission conditions notified by the university.

JMI Approves Nine Certificate Programmes

Jamia Millia Islamia approved introduction of nine certificate programmes through Centre for Distance and Online Education from academic session 2026-27. The approved certificate programmes include

• Certificate in French Language

• Certificate in Spanish Language

• Certificate in Chinese Language

• Certificate in Korean Language

• Certificate in Japanese Language

• Certificate in Russian Language

• Certificate in German Language

• Certificate in Indian Knowledge System

• Certificate in Photography and Video Editing

Eligibility and Fee for Certificate Courses

Candidates who have passed their Class 12 board exam from a recognised board can pursue these certificate programmes, as per approved provisions. The fee for most of certificate programmes has been fixed at INR 8,000. The Certificate in Indian Knowledge System (IKS) has a fee of INR 5,000.

Except for Indian Knowledge System and Photography and Video Editing programmes, other certificate programmes have a duration of one year. The university is expected to provide further details regarding the duration, admission process, eligibility requirements and schedule through the CDOE.

JMI Distance and Online Education

With approval of new PG and certificate programmes, JMI is expanding range of courses available through its Centre for Distance and Online Education. The programmes will provide learners with an option to pursue higher education through ODL and online modes without attending conventional on-campus classes on a regular basis.
