The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) has staged a protest demanding the allocation of hostels to first-year students. The students' union also demanded the restoration of the library as well as mess services. The protest was held outside the office of the Dean of Students (DoS).

They also protested over the unavailability of a specialist at JNU Health Centre and demanded that 'dhabas' should remain open till late at night.

"It has been weeks since the university resumed offline classes and hostel rooms for first-year students have not yet been allotted. Moreover, the dhabas that used to remain open till 2:30 am, now closes down at 11 pm," JNUSU councilor Anagha Pradeep said. "There is no specialist at the JNU Health Centre. We have demanded the university reinstate the specialist service," she added.

Earlier, RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has also reached out to the JNU Vice-chancellor demanding that the health center on the campus needs to be upgraded. ABVP said that the health care center on campus requires a five-ICU bed. The demand comes in the wake of the death of a PhD student on March 21, who had earlier complained of chest pain. The deceased student, who was a resident of the Tapti hostel, was enrolled at the Centre for Russian Studies. The students' body had claimed that he was not given timely treatment by the health center and there was also a delay in referring him to AIIMS.

The student body had also urged the university to undertake sanitisation (fogging and spraying) activities citing a rise in cases of dengue.
