Five MBA students and two BA students will receive a cash reward of ₹10 lakh each. 

LPU Tokyo Olympics

Lovely Professional Univresity (LPU) has announced Rs 10 Lakh cash award to each student of the university who is part of the Indian men’s hockey team at the Tokyo Olympics. The Indian men’s hockey team defeated Germany 5-4 in the bronze medal match to end a 41-year wait for an Olympic medal in hockey. The last time India had won a medal in hockey was at the Moscow Games in 1980.  

Seven players of the Indian men’s hockey team at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics are hockey team captain, Manpreet Singh (MBA), Rupinderpal Singh (MBA), Harmanpal Singh (MBA), Mandeep Singh (BA), Shamsher Singh (MBA), Dilpreet Singh (BA) and Varun Kumar (MBA). Each student will be awarded Rs 10 lakh for winning a bronze for the country at the Tokyo Olympics. 

A total of 11 students from LPU are representing India at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics in wrestling, hockey, athletics, and paralympics.  

Ashok Mittal, Chancellor, Lovely Professional University said, “My heartiest congratulations to the Indian Hockey team for winning the bronze medal in such an intense match against Germany. We are elated and so proud of them for marking this success at the Olympics after 41 years.”  

He added, “It gives me immense pleasure that seven out of the sixteen members’ of the team are students of LPU. They have brought significant honour, not just to LPU, but to the entire nation as well. They have set an example for students to take up sports and bring more medals for the country.”
