About 54 college administrations expressed interest in the 112 possible locations that were listed in the Mumbai University proposal.

Maharashtra govt receives 183 proposals from universities to start new colleges, check details

The Maharashtra government has said that it has received 183 proposals from universities to start new colleges this year.  434 places were designated for this purpose by the state. Yet, fewer than half of the government-identified places have drawn interest from various colleges. After the government's approval, these colleges will start the 2023–24 academic year.

As per the TOI report, under Mumbai University; there are 112 proposed locations for new colleges and 28 proposals from colleges’ management were sent to Maharashtra’s higher and technical education department. A majority of these 28 proposals are for law colleges. Meanwhile, Savitribai Phule Pune University in Pune sent 31 proposals for 33 locations.

About 54 college administrations expressed interest in the 112 possible locations that were listed in the Mumbai University proposal. According to the report, approximately 26 of these ideas were turned down at the university level, and just 28 were submitted to the department after careful review. According to sources, "the state is likely to scrutinise these further and issue the final list of recognised colleges soon." According to the official, out of the 28 proposals from Mumbai University, 16 are for legal schools and the other 12 are for schools of science, the arts, and business.
