NLSIU Opens Application for Research Fellowship Programmes for January 2027 intake; Check Eligibility

NLSIU has invited applications for its Graduate Research, Postdoctoral and University Research Fellowship programmes for January 2027 intake. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online for NLSIU Research Fellowship Programmes till Oct 30, 2026. 

NLSIU Research Fellowship Programmes

NLSIU Research Fellowship Programmes: National Law School of India University Bengaluru has invited applications for multiple research fellowship programmes for January 2027 intake. NLSIU is offering fellowships for researchers at different stages of their academic and professional careers. Applications are open for three fellowship programmes - Graduate Research Fellowship, NLSIU Postdoctoral Fellowship and University Research Fellowship. As per NLSIU, these programmes aim to support research in law, social sciences, public policy and allied disciplines.

Interested candidates must submit their applications by October 30, 2026, up to 5 pm. NLSIU Research Fellowship Programmes applications have to be submitted through respective Google Form available on official website nls.ac.in/research/nlsiu-research-fellowships. 

NLSIU fellowship programmes and eligibility

Eligibility criteria vary depending on fellowship programme. Candidates should check detailed requirements before applying.

• Graduate Research Fellowship: Candidates must hold graduate degree in law or a postgraduate degree in social sciences, public policy or allied disciplines.

• NLSIU Postdoctoral Fellowship: Candidates who have been awarded a PhD in law, social sciences, public policy or allied disciplines within the past three years can apply. They should not have previously held a postdoctoral position at another university.

• University Research Fellowship: They must hold a recognised PhD and have at least 10 years of teaching or relevant professional experience. They are also required to demonstrate a strong publication record.

NLSIU Fellowship Stipend

NLSIU has specified starting monthly remuneration for three fellowship programmes. The remuneration varies as per level and experience required for each position.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to be present on NLSIU campus in Bengaluru during their fellowship period. However, university may consider flexibility regarding campus presence on a case-by-case basis.
