Osmania University's first semester postgraduate exams are to be held as per the schedule and all COVID-19 protocols will be followed, the VC said.

Osmania University postgraduate first semester exams for the batch of 2020-22 will be conducted as per the schedule. The exams were earlier postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are now scheduled to be held from tomorrow; i.e. September 14. The varsity had opened its campus and hostels from September 5, however, most of the students came back to campus on September 11, after the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

While speaking to Edexlive, the Osmania University, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. D Ravinder Yadav said the discussion was taken during a meeting on September 9, with all the student representatives and organisations of the varsity and no objections were raised in that meeting. However, later, some members of the ABVP wing of OU barged into the VC's residence, and asked to reschedule the exams. However, this was made clear to them that no such request will be entertained. It is in the interest of the students, maintains Dr. Yadav, further adding that the pandemic has already led students to lose a major chunk of their academic year.

"This step was taken in the interest of the students. Every hour is precious t to them now because the academic year has been affected because of the pandemic. These theory exams have to be conducted offline, and with the threat of the third wave, this was the right time to go ahead with them. We are trying to save the academic year," said the VC.

The authorities further ensure that strict COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. The VC also spoke about how the irregularities in the schedule might affect foreign students who are on campus.
