Mangaluru Schools, Colleges Shut: A temporary suspension order has been issued for classes of five schools and a college in Mangaluru by the education department of the city. The decision has been taken due to a surge in the number of novel coronavirus cases on the campuses. According to PTI, a department communique here said that the classes in these six institutions will be suspended for a week due to the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.
The institutions that have received orders to suspend classes amid the COVID-19 spike in the campus include Vivekananda PU college, Yedapadavu; government high school, Bengre Kasaba; Canara CBSE school, Dongrakere; Ansar English medium high school, Bajpe and Vyasa Maharshi English medium high school, Mulki.

Schools and colleges across the country are being shut amid the increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases and its Omicron variant scare. Various states have order the closure of schools and other educational institution until the end of January, whereas there are many states that have issued orders to shut schools until mid-February. With board exams 2022 approaching, various students are even demanding cancellation of board exams amid the COVID-19 spike in the country. Various students are stating that conducting board exams via offline mode during the pandemic would impose high health risks on students.
