DDMA withdraws order to deploy government school teachers for COVID Duty at Delhi Airport
DDMA decided to recall this order today after receiving criticism from educators, parents as well as teachers themselves.
A day after announcing its decision to deploy government school teachers at the Delhi airport, Delhi Disaster Management Authority, DDMA has withdrawn the notice issued on December 26, 2022, which stated that government school teachers would be deployed at Delhi Airport for COVID-19 Duty.
As per the notice issued previously by DDMA, all teachers in Delhi government schools would be deployed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International, IGI Airport from December 31, 2022, to January 15, 2023, to ensure COVID-19 appropriate behaviour is followed.
The authorities took the decision stating that Delhi Schools would be closed due to winter vacations. The order also contained a list of around 50 teachers who had been deployed for duty at the Delhi Airport from 6 AM to 2 PM, 2 PM to 10 PM and 10 PM to 6 AM.
However, DDMA decided to recall this order today after receiving criticism from educators, parents as well as teachers themselves.
Government School Teachers Association's District Secretary Sant Ram also raised their objections regarding the deployment of teachers. Ram stated that the academic load faced by teachers is enough and they can do without deployment.
Teachers also criticised the deployment as, during Delhi Schools winter vacations, remedial classes would be held for Class 9 to 12 students from January 2 to 14, 2023. DDMA has now stated that if needed, civil defence authority would be deployed.
