No, mathematics as a subject is not compulsory for NIFT Entrance Exam 2026. Only for B.F Tech, Mathematics as a subject in Class 12 is compulsory.

If you have missed the NIFT registration with regular fee, then you can apply today with late fees. The window is open till January 19, 2026.

NIFT Exam is conducted in two Stages.

Stage 1 - Written Test. NIFT Written exam includes CAT and GAT.

Stage 2 - Situation Test and Personal Interview.

NIFT written exams comprise the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and the General Ability Test (GAT). The GAT paper is mandatory for all courses. However, only B.Des and M.Des candidates need to take the CAT.

NIFT 2026 Admission for M.Des.

• Undergraduate Degree in any discipline from any Institute/University recognized by law in India. OR
• Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT/NID.

NTA NIFT Application form can be filled with late fee from January 17, 2026 to January 19, 2026. The late fee of INR 5,000 will be applicable along with the regular fee. NIFT Registration window is still open with regular fee till January 16, 2026.

 NIFT GAT exam will be conducted in a computer-based mode.  

This test comprises MCQs in Quantitative Analysis, Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability & General Awareness.

NIFTEE 2026 आवेदन में सुधार (correction) की सुविधा 20 से 21 जनवरी 2026 तक उपलब्ध होगी।

NIFTEE 2026 ऑनलाइन आवेदन प्रक्रिया 8 दिसंबर 2025 से शुरू| बिना लेट फीस के आवेदन की अंतिम तिथि 16 जनवरी 2026 है|

NIFTEE exam will be conducted offline at the centres. There are 102 cities in which exams will be held.

The exam will be held in Computer Based Test (CBT) for GAT and Paper Based Test (PBT) – CAT.

Stage 1 has two parts: GAT and CAT.

Candidates must bring the following.

1. Admit Card along.
2. A simple transparent Ball Point
3. Additional photograph (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) to be pasted on the attendance sheet in examination Room/ Hall.
4. Any one of the authorized photo IDs (must be original, valid, and non-expired):  College Identity Card with photograph/ PAN Card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/E-Aadhaar with photograph/ Ration Card with photograph/ Bank Passbook with Photograph.
5. PwD certificate and UDID issued by the authorized medical officer, if applicable.
6. Personal transparent water
7. Sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/apple/orange) in case the candidate is diabetic

NIFT Correction window will open on January 20, 2026. It will close on January 21, 2026. After this, no correction will be made in the NIFTEE registration form 2026.

For PwD/PwBD candidates, the details of the UDID Card as uploaded will be verified from UDID portal of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DePwD). Those who do not have UDID Card should upload Disability Certificate in the proper format and the same may be verified by NTA from the issuing authority.

For capturing Live Photograph for NIFT Application, candidates should switch on their camera or connect their webcam to the device used for filling the Application If your device does not support a webcam, QR code on the right can be scanned by the candidate using a mobile device/tablet etc. Candidates should ensure there is a light-colored background with proper lighting, and clear face visibility (including ears, without a mask).

NIFT application fee can be paid through Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card or UPI. Candidates must keep the proof of payment for future reference. Processing charges and GST as applicable are chargeable to the candidates (in addition to the examination fees) by the concerned Bank/Payment Gateway Integrator.

NIFTEE Registration will be closed today. Today is the last date to fill the NIFT application form with regular fees. Candidates should fill the form now to avoid paying late fees.

Candidates will not be able to edit their Email Id and Mobile Number. Name, contact details / address, category, PwD status, educational qualification details, date of birth, choice of exam cities, etc. provided by the candidate in the NIFT online Application Form can be edited.

To reset the NIFT password:

• Using a verification code sent via text message (SMS) to the Registered Mobile
• Using a reset link sent via Email to your Registered Email

NIFT Late fee is INR 5000 along with regular fee. The regular fee is INR 2000 for General Category.

NIFT Registration Window with late fee can be used by candidates who missed the NIFT 2026 Application window with a regular fee. Today is the last date to fill the NIFTEE Application with regular fee.

Candidates should upload a photograph with the following:

• The photograph should not be with a cap or Photograph should cover 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against white background.
• Spectacles are allowed if being used.
• Polaroid and Computer-generated photos are not allowed.
• Applications not complying with these instructions or with unclear photographs are liable to be rejected.
• Candidates may please note that if it is found that photograph uploaded is fabricated e. de- shaped or seems to be hand-made or computer-made, the form of the candidate will be rejected and the same would be considered as using unfair means and the candidate would be dealt with accordingly.
• Applications without photographs shall be rejected. The photograph need not be attested. Candidates are advised to take 6 to 8 passport size-colored photographs with a white background.

Candidates are required to fill:

• Candidate’s Name/ Mother’s Name/ Father’s Name: Provide Candidate’s Name, Mother’s Name, and Father’s Name as given in the Secondary School Examination or equivalent Board/University Certificate in capital letters. No prefix in the name of the candidate is allowed
• Date of Birth: dd/mm/yyyy Provide Candidate’s date of birth as recorded in Secondary School Examination or equivalent Board/University Certificate.
• Mobile Number and e-mail Address: Candidates must provide their own Mobile Number and e-mail address.

The candidate should select any four cities of their choice for examination of NIFT Entrance Examination. Choice of cities will be limited to the State of Permanent & Present Address of the Candidate. There are 102 cities for NIFT Centres. Daman and Vapi are newly added cities.

NIFT Communication Ability and English Comprehension will include Synonyms, Antonyms, Words with corresponding meanings, Singular, Plural, One-word substitutes, Idioms and phrases, Correct spellings, Comprehending a situation from a given passage, etc.

NIFT 2026 B.Des. includes General Ability Test (GAT), Creative Ability Test (CAT). Shortlisted based on the entrance examination, followed by a Situation Test.

The Paper will be Bilingual i.e. Hindi and English. Candidates are required to answer in the medium as per option exercised in the online Application Form.

NIFTEE Shortlisting criteria 2026:

For NIFTEE B.Tech, canidates should have

• Passed the plus 2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination from any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi/Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi with Mathematics. OR
• A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects with Mathematics. OR
• 3 or 4 years diploma in any branch of Engineering recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education after secondary examination/10th standard. OR
• Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 system with Mathematics. OR
• General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level with Mathematics/International Baccalaureate (IB).

The recent passport size photograph should be in colour with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against white background.

• A recent colour photograph (JPG format, size 10 - 200Kb) in which the face shall occupy 80% of the image, with full face (without mask), both ears clearly visible against white background.
• Signature file should be JPG/JPEG format (clearly legible) between 10 kb to 30 kb.
• Scanned copy of Identity Proof (for those candidates who will verify their identities through methods other than Aadhaar or DigiLocker) should be in format JPG/JPEG between 10 kb to 200 kb (clearly legible).
• A scanned copy of Disability/UDID certificate should be a PDF between 50 kb to 300 kb (clearly legible), wherever applicable.

To create NIFT 2026 Login password, pay attention to the following.

1. Password must be 8 to 13 characters
2. Password must have at least one Upper case
3. Password must have at least one Lower case
4. Password must have at least one numeric
5. Password must have at least one special character (!@#$%^&*-)

NIFT 2026 seats are reserved for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/GEN-EWS/ Person With Disability (PwD) in each programme.

The maximum age should be less than 24 years as on 1st August of the year of admission. The upper age limit may be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for candidates of the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Person with Disability (PwD) categories.

Once the NIFT Application 2026 form with regular fee is closed, candidates will be able to fill the form with late fees. The late fee is INR 5000 along the regular fee.
