Education Minister, Finish Ambassador to India meets to discuss innovation in education

Education Minister and Finland's Ambassador have agreed to exchange best practices and work together in several areas of education.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met Finland's Ambassador to India Ritva Koukku-Ronde and has agreed to exchange best practices and work together in several areas of education.

"Glad to meet HE Ritva Koukku-Ronde, Finnish Amb. to India and EU Gender Champion. We had productive discussions on intensifying our multi-faceted bilateral cooperation, especially in digital learning, innovation and other priority areas in the education sector," Unione Education Minister tweeted.

"We also agreed to exchange best practices and work together to build capacities in the areas of vocational education, skill development, K-12, curriculum & pedagogy frameworks, teacher training and ICTs," he added. 

In 2020, Dharmendra Pradhan had met Finland's Ambassador Ritva Koukku- Ronde to discuss different ways to work on developing technology in clean and efficient energy generation. During the meeting, Pradhan and Koukku-Ronde had talked about the status of the 2G Ethanol facility in Numaligarh, which is the first of its kind in the world and was created through a joint venture between NRL and the Finnish businesses Chemopolis and Fortum. The then Minister of Petroleum also emphasized the "huge investment prospects in India's increasing clean energy sector" and urged Finnish companies to invest in the development of clean fuels, particularly waste-to-energy.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan laid the foundation stone of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) regional centres building in Bangalore, Noida and Pune. Owing to the COVID-19 restrictions, the event was held in virtual mode. During his address, the Education Minister said that IGNOU plays an instrumental role in taking higher education to the masses and the top-notch infrastructure is imperative to provide quality education.
