The university has decided to delay first and second-year semester exams to March. Earlier, the exams were scheduled to be held in February.

As per the official notiifcation released by the university,  in view of the rising COVID cases, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has decided to delay first and second-year semester exams to March. Earlier, the exams were scheduled to be held in February but now these will be conducted in March, an official said.

Newly appointed AKTU Vice-Chancellor Pradeep Kumar Mishra said, “I have directed the examination section to conduct first and second-year exams in March as Covid cases are very high,” said.

Anurag Tripathi, Controller of Exams, AKTU, said, “We will finalise all exams-related stuff by today (Monday) and students will be conveyed through a circular. Roughly 1.25 lakh students will take exams in March.”

AKTU students want online exams in February itself

However, fearing that postponement of exam will further delay the session or will reduce duration of next semester to just two months instead of usual five to six months, the students want that the university should hold online exam instead of offline in February itself.

University yet to take call on online exams

The university is yet to decide whether to conduct exams in the online or offline mode in March. While assuming office earlier this month, the Vice-Chancellor had said that if COVID-19 cases remained high, the university will opt for online exam as holding offline exams in such situation will put lives of students at risk.
