Australian govt expediting visas to Indian students: Pradhan

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan raised the issue of pending visas of Indian students going to Australia with his Australian counterpart, Jason Clare. Pradhan also welcomed Australian universities and skilling institutions to set their campuses in India and also explore areas of collaboration.
Education Minister Pradhan is in Australia where he met Australian Education Minister Jason Clare today. During the meeting, there were discussions on further strengthening our cooperation in education, skill development, research collaborations, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Sharing the details, Pradhan wrote on Twitter: “I raised the issue of pending visas of Indian students going to Australia as well as areas our countries can work together, especially in advancing research collaborations in Ayurveda, Yoga & Agriculture, skill development, curriculum development and Digital University.”
He also stated that the Australian government is expediting visas for Indian students and also towards establishing university-to-university collaborations for offering dual degree programs to encourage two-way student mobility and boost people-to-people linkages.
Jason Clare and Pradhan agreed to expand our cooperation in learning, skilling and research and to take forward our engagements with a view to making education an important pillar under the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
He writes on Twitter: “I agreed to further deepen our long-standing bilateral relations in education, skilling and research.”
The 6th Australia India Education Council (AIEC) meeting paves a platform to further strengthen our research collaborations and also build on the commitments and progress made in the last AIEC meeting held in India, including through SPARC & GIAN and also ARCH-India.
The two nations have agreed to establish a working group on trans-national education with a view to strengthen institutional partnerships, open new opportunities for collaborations between universities of both countries and for removing barriers hindering these partnerships.
