Big Change! MHT CET 2026 to Be Conducted in Two Sessions: April and May Attempts Confirmed
State Government of Maharashtra has announced a major reform for MHT CET (engineering, pharmacy and management). The MHT CET will be held twice annually (April & May) from 2026 onwards. Get full details here.
In a landmark decision, the state government of Maharashtra has approved conducting the MHT CET exam twice a year, starting with the 2026-27 academic year. The change was announced by Higher & Technical Education Minister, Chandrakant Patil, after a review meeting with officials of the State Common Entrance Test Cell.
Under the new system, students will get two opportunities, one in April and the other in May, to sit for the exam, which is held for admissions into engineering (PCM), pharmacy/medical (PCB) and MBA courses. The better of the two scores will be considered for admission purposes.
The reform is inspired by the national-level model of the JEE Main, which is held twice a year. It aims to reduce examination pressure, allow more flexibility in preparation and align Maharashtraβs entrance process with national standards. Implementation details, including registration schedule, exam centres and exact dates, will be issued by the CET Cell soon.
