The official NIRF 2025 ranking has been declared. Out of all private engineering colleges, BITS Pilani has secured the top rank. The institute has also improved its NIRF ranking 2025 in other major categories. Read to know the official BITS Pilani NIRF ranking 2025.
The Ministry of Education (MoE) has released the NIRF 2025 ranking for the participating colleges, universities and institutes. According to the official report, 14,163 institutes participated in being assessed for the NIRF ranking 2025. Among the private colleges, Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani has emerged on top in the Engineering list and has improved its ranking in major categories. Notably, the institute has ranked 11th in the Top Engineering Colleges list and 7th in the Top Universities list.

NIRF 2025 Ranking Highlights:
- NIRF ranking 2025 has been prepared following the given parameters - Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI), and Peer Perception.
- A negative marking system has been introduced for every retraction of publications.
- IIT Madras has maintained its top rank in the Engineering category.
- Out of the private engineering colleges, BITS Pilani, SRM Institute of Science and Technology and Vellore Institute of Technology are at the top of the list.
About BITS Pilani
BITS Pilani offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses to eligible candidates. For Engineering admissions, the authorities conduct BITSAT as an annual exam, which is held in two sessions. Birla Institute of Technology has three campuses β Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad.

No. BITSAT is held to select candidates for admissions into the participating campuses - Goa, Pilani and Hyderabad. The obtained scores in the entrance examination will be used only for admissions into these institutes. No other colleges will accept BITSAT scores for admissions. After qualifying BITSAT, the candidates will have to participate in the counselling process for admissions into the undergraduate engineering courses offered by the Goa, Pilani or Hyderabad campus. Candidates are advised to check the admission criteria carefully before applying for BITSAT.
The authorities are yet to release the official number of seats offered for admissions through the BITSAT. However, there is estimated to be around 3,000 seats in the different campuses of BITS Pilani under BE course. The distribution seats are expected to be Birla Institute of Technology Pilani (1,040 seats), Birla Institute of Technology Hyderabad (1,080 seats) and Birla Institute of Technology Goa (850 seats). In case of any updates in the number of available seats for admission, the authorities will announce it online at the official website.
