Chandigarh University has launched two space research programmes. KCC Space Technology & Research Programme 2026 and KCC Summer Internship Programme 2026 is running from June 15 to July 11, 2026. During inaugural ceremony, eminent personalities in Space and Semiconductor were present to given technical insights and views to participants.

Chandigarh University has launched the KCC Space Technology & Research Programme 2026 and KCC Summer Internship Programme 2026 through its Kalpana Chawla Centre (KCC) on June 15. Led by experts from reputable scientific institutions such as Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, and Semiconductor Technologies, the month-long programme aims to mentor students and research scholars in emerging technologies that are shaping India’s growing space sector.

Both programmes are currently running from June 15 to July 11 and will provide participants with practical exposure, technical insights and opportunities to engage with developments in satellite systems, semiconductors, space applications and advanced research.

During the inaugural ceremony, Dr S. Sudhakar, Deputy Director of ISRO's U R Rao Satellite Centre served as the chief guest. As a guest of honour, Prof. Priyadarshnam, Head and Project Director, SSPACE, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) was also present at the ceremony. Other distinguished guests were Dr. Kamaljeet Singh, Director General of SCL, and Sri Jothy Soman, Group Director at URSC.

All eminent guests spoke about the importance of science and technology to make India into a developed nation by 2047. They also highlighted the importance of space technology in economic development, stating that India should also accelerate the integration of such technologies across sectors to maintain growth momentum.

During the programme, participants will be involved in technical sessions, mentoring, laboratory demonstrations, lectures by experts, workshops and research interactions. The aim of the programme is to nurture innovation and strengthen India’s workforce in the domains of Space and Semiconductor. 

Chandigarh University authorities have announced that the programme will feature nearly 15 distinguished scientists, researchers and technical experts from ISRO, IIST, Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, NewSpace India Limited, Ministry of Earth Sciences and SCL.
