CSAB 2026 Special Round Registration & Choice Filling Delayed Till Further Notice; New Schedule Awaited
The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has postponed the registration and choice filling process for the CSAB 2026 Special Round until further notice. Candidates who were waiting to register for the counselling process will now have to wait for the revised schedule, which will be announced on the official CSAB website.
CSAB has informed candidates that the registration and choice filling process will not begin as per the earlier schedule. However, no new dates have been announced yet. Aspirants are advised to keep checking the official CSAB portal regularly for the latest updates regarding the revised counselling timeline.
In line with the postponement of the CSAB 2026 registration & choice filling, the dates for payment of the Special Round Enrolment Fee (SERF) and seat allotment might also get affected. The revised schedule, once released, will clarify the changes.
The CSAB Special Round is conducted every year to fill vacant seats remaining after the completion of JoSAA counselling. Eligible candidates who have qualified JEE Main 2026 can participate in the special round to secure admission to vacant seats in National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs), and other participating institutes.
CSAB 2026 Special Round Counselling Process
The CSAB Special Round counselling process generally includes registration, payment of the participation fee, online choice filling, seat allotment, online reporting, document verification, and fee payment. Seat allotment is carried out based on JEE Main 2026 rank, candidates' preferences, category, and seat availability.
Once the revised schedule is released, candidates will have to complete the registration process by paying the required participation fee and submitting their preferred choices of institutes and courses within the stipulated deadline. Candidates who fail to register and lock their choices before the last date will not be considered for seat allotment.
Candidates are also advised to keep all the necessary documents ready, including the JEE Main 2026 scorecard, Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets, category certificate (if applicable), PwD certificate (if applicable), passport-size photographs, and other documents required during admission.
