IIT Kanpur is ready to conduct the JEE Advanced 2025 exam on May 18. This coming Sunday will mark the deciding day for all those candidates who have registered for the JEE Advanced 2025 exam for IIT admission. The paper 1 of JEE Advanced 2025 will be held from 9 am to 12 pm, and the paper 2 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Appearing in both papers is compulsory. The candidates who will appear in the exam will get their JEE Advanced 2025 result on June 2. The qualified candidates will get JEE Advanced rank based on which they will be allotted seats in IITs via the JoSAA counselling that will start a day after the JEE Advanced scores are announced - on June 3.

Trend Continues: Most Candidates Aiming for CSE Course from Top IITs via JEE Advanced 2025

Shiksha.com ran a poll to know the goal of the candidates appearing for one of the toughest exams in the world this year. Turns out that the majority of the candidates (55%) want to pursue computer science engineering at one of the top IITs. On the other hand, 25% of the candidates said that they will settle with any IIT and any course that they could get based on JEE Advanced ranks. Lastly, 20% of the candidates have said that they would like to pursue computer science engineering from any IIT.

This data proves that every year, the race is to get into computer science engineering. While the creamy layer candidates target the top IIT, they target CSE from any IIT. While many candidates would be happy to get into any IIT and course. The competition is tough, and it is even tougher for the candidates who want to pursue the  CSE course.

JEE Advanced 2025 Cutoff Rank for CSE Course in Top IITs

Naturally, this leads to the CSE cutoff across all IITs to be the highest among all the courses. The Top IITs that include IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee and IIT Kharagpur have the highest cutoff among all the IITs, especially for the computer science course.

IIT Bombay's BTech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) course is highly sought after by top-performing students in JEE Advanced. Generally, the JEE Advanced 2025 closing rank for admission to the CSE program at IIT Bombay falls within the range of 60 to 68.

As per the official report for JEE Advanced from last year, to get a rank of 100 and below, and to stand a chance of getting CSE in any Top IIT, candidates need to score 301+ marks out of 360 in JEE Advanced. However, note that the total marks of JEE Advanced are subject to change each year.

Q:   Is watch allowed in JEE Advanced exam centre?
A:

No. A watch timer of 3 hours will be available on the computer screen of all the candidates to monitor thir exam timing. A candidate cannot carry or wear a atch inside the exam hall. Also, candidates cannot carry mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, earphones,  microphones, pagers, health bands or any other electronic gadgets, any printed/blank/hand written paper, log tables, writing pads, scales, eraser,  geometry/pencil-boxes, pouches, calculators, pen drives, electronic pens/Scanner, wallets, handbags, camera, goggles or similar such items.

Q:   In how many cities will JEE Advanced exam be held?
A:

JEE Advanced 2026 will be held in around 200+ cities in India and at a few foreign centres. The detailed list of JEE Advanced 2026 exam centres will be available at jeeadv.ac.in.

Q:   What is JEE Advanced 2025 exam date?
A:

The JEE Advanced 2025 exam will be held ion May 18. JEE Advanced 2025 will be conducted by IIT Kanpur. JEE Main 2025 qualified candidates who achieve rank among the top 2.5 lakh candidates could apply for JEE Advanced exam. Candidates can appear in JEE Advanced two consecutive times. JEE Advanced 2025 will be held in CBT mode and there will be 2 papers. Each paper will have 3 sections: Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Candidates had to attempt both papers 1 and 2 to be eligible for admission to the IITs.

JEE Advanced 2025 admit card is available on the official website - jeeadv.ac.in, and candidates must download the admit card and carry its printed copy to the JEE Advanced exam centre to be able to enter the exam hall. Candidates must not forget to take a printout of their downloaded admit card and bring it along with a valid original photo identity card to the exam centre. Acceptable forms of photo ID include Aadhaar Card, School/College/Institute ID, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, PAN Card, and Notarised Certificate with a photograph.
