GATE 2020: IIT Delhi releases list of candidates with ‘defects’ in application form

GATE 2020 application form correction: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has released the list of candidates who have ‘defects’ in their application form. Such candidates can correct the mistakes in GATE 2020 application form by December 6, 2019, before 5 pm.
GATE 2020 applicants can check the list on the official website of the engineering entrance exam i.e. gate.iitd.ac.in. IIT Delhi, the exam conducting authority, has also notified that this will be the last application correction window and none of the applicants will be given any further chance to correct mistakes in the GATE 2020 application forms.
IIT Delhi has also notified about the different types of ‘defects’ possible in the application on the website. There are three kinds of mistakes submitted by candidates so far. Separate lists of candidates are available for every category below. The types of mistakes are:
- Candidates who did not provide valid Eligibility Certificate. Without a valid certificate, the candidate’s GATE 2020 application is liable to be rejected. Click here to check the list
- Candidates who have not uploaded Category/PwD/Dyslexia Certificate or uploaded the invalid one. In case of not uploading a valid certificate, such candidates will be treated as General Category student and they will be required to deposit an additional fee of Rs 750/- (Except female candidates). - Candidates whose uploaded Photographs/Signatures are not as per the guidelines. For specifications, candidates can refer 4.4.7 of the GATE 2020 brochure. Click here to check the list
Apart from releasing the list of candidates, IIT Delhi has also issued an advisory to the candidates about a fake message that is being circulated on different platforms. As per the advisory, some students have reported that they have received fraudulent emails which states “Dear Sir/Madam, GATE 2020 Authority tried to contact you response required for more details click on http://bit.ly/2moRuzB”. Clarifying the fake email, the exam conducting authority has stated, “GATE 2020 Authority and the IITs are neither sending such messages nor involved with any specially designed test series for GATE aspirants.” Adding it to further, the advisory says, “Please do not believe in the phishing/fake emails/messages which are being circulated to the GATE aspirants by some fraudulent groups. As per the schedule, GATE 2020 admit card will be released online on January 3 next year. The exam will be conducted on February 1, 2, 8, and 9.
