GATE 2026 Registration: Know New Subjects Introduced Since 2021

GATE 2026 Registration: The number of GATE papers has increased to 30 with the addition of a new subject this year. Candidates willing to appear for GATE can check all the new subjects added since 2021 here.
GATE Registration 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati will commence the registration for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 today, August 28. This year, a new Energy Science (XE-I) paper has been introduced under the Engineering Sciences (XE) category, taking the total number of GATE papers to 30.
Over the past five years, several new papers have been introduced for the GATE exam, including Biomedical Engineering (BM), Environmental Science and Engineering (ES), Humanities & Social Sciences (XH), Geomatics Engineering (GE), Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (DA), and Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering (NM).
GATE New Subjects: How Many Registered and Appeared?
Going as per the statistics given in the table, the GATE applications for the Computer Science paper have steadily risen over the years however, the newly introduced Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (DA) paper is expected to become a strong competition to CS.

When will GATE 2025 Registration Start?
The IIT Guwahati is expected to activate the GATE registration link 2025 anytime soon now. Candidates can get the GATE 2025 registration link online at the official website. The last date to submit the GATE form is September 28. However, those submitting the GATE application 2025 after that, till October 9, have to pay the late fee charges.
