Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 results are out. Those qualified now need to plan their next step. They should check their GATE rank and apply for college admissions or PSU jobs.
GATE Result 2026: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has declared GATE results today, March 19. Candidates who appeared for PG engineering entrance exam can check GATE 2026 result at official websites goaps.iitg.ac.in and gate2026.iitg.ac.in. They can check their IIT GATE result by logging in with Enrollment ID and Password. This time, GATE exam was conducted on February 7, 8, 14 and 15, in two shifts for 30 subjects.ย
As per updates, GATE topper list will be released on March 25, 2026. Whereas, GATE scorecards will be available from March 27. Candidates can download GATE scorecards till May 31 by visiting official website. Also, they can download scorecard of GATE, which can be downloaded by paying a fee of INR 500 from June 1 to December 31, 2026.
ย What After Declaration of GATE 2026 Result?ย
With declaration of results, candidates can check their All India Rank (AIR), GATE score and marks, as these will determine eligibility for admissions and job opportunities.
MTech Admissionsย
Candidates who have qualified in GATE 2026 can now apply for postgraduate programmes in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs). MTech admissions will be conducted through
- Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) for IITs
- Centralised Counselling for M.Tech (CCMT) for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs
GATE Counselling and Cutoff Updates Awaited
After GATE result announcement, institutes will soon release branch wise cutoffs and counselling schedules. From getting a seat in top engineering institutes to landing a PSU job or planning a reattempt, upcoming weeks are important for aspirants.
PSU Recruitment Through GATEย
Many leading Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) are expected to release recruitment notifications based on GATE 2026 scores
- Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC)
- Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL)
- Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL)
While some PSUs recruit directly through GATE scores, others may conduct interviews or group discussions as part of the selection process. Career options after GATE 2026 depend on rank:
- Top ranks (AIR < 1000): Strong chances for IIT admissions and PSU jobs
- Mid ranks (AIR 1000โ5000): Opportunities in NITs, IIITs
- Lower ranks (AIR > 5000): Limited top-tier options; alternative plans needed
